About Me

Visiting Marshalltown in 2020

BACKGROUND:

I was born in Iowa, and I have lived most of my life in Iowa, thus far. My closest relatives and friends still live in Iowa, but many of us are spread across the country these days.

Since I have no real intention of writing a book about myself that few (if any) will read, I will make this really short.

My mother and father divorced when I was young. We grew up very poor, as far as standards go, but it’s something I never really cared about or even thought about much. We always had plenty of friends and family around and that was way more important to me than money.

Me 1983

1st time college, 1983

I spent a good portion of my life in school, either taking or teaching classes, and I graduated from college a few times. Do I really use any of my degrees?.. Not so much. Man, that was expensive!

Most of what I do for a living these days doesn’t involve any of what I had to learn to acquire the degrees I’ve received (who needs Calculus, Analytic Geometry, or Linear Algebra anyway), but I wouldn’t trade either the experiences or probably the most important thing I learned from all my years in college. Spending all that time in school taught me how to research and learn new things, for which I will be forever grateful.

Me Indianapolis

Indy for Work, 20??

If you can think of it, I've probably had a job doing it at one time or another. I spent 13 years as a college professor and the last 14 years working for the same company (my 2 longest “careers”). Other than about the last 10 years, I have always had at least two jobs, or have been in school and had a job, but doing that is getting old, and so am I!

So to your benefit (or detriment), I have decided to slow down a little and put together this website containing the things of mine that I need to have a little more organized.

My original intention was just to get all my recipes into one place so that I would have them available to me, on my phone, when I cook, but as it turns out, I really needed a place to keep track of all my hoarding.

If you happen to be a collector of the printed works of the artist “Richard Corben”, you should really love this site. I have tried to catalog his printed works with the best information available to me. If you’re a fan, I think you’ll appreciate that section of the site most.

Enjoy your time on my site!
